Piano Movers in Denver | Last Mile Moving

Uprights, grands, and the heavy specialty pieces other movers turn down, handled by our dedicated unit with the gear the weight calls for

Treat a piano like furniture and you end up with a hurt mover and a wrecked instrument. Even a modest upright nears 300 pounds; a full grand clears half a ton, and the mass sits exactly where a bad grip turns dangerous. For that reason it never lands with the regular movers. A dedicated specialty unit takes the job, leaning on skid boards, piano boards, heavy padding, and rated straps in place of brute force.

Grands come apart first. We pull the lyre and pedal assembly, take the legs off, tip the body gently onto its long edge on a padded board, then shroud it and ratchet it down. An upright rides a board as well, cushioned and walked through each doorway by people trained to keep that mass from breaking loose on a sill or in a cramped LoDo stairwell. The flooring stays covered and the finish stays guarded throughout. Reid’s same-day background shows here: we chart and measure the path from curb to room before the first lift.

And a piano booking around Denver seldom ends with the piano. The downtown lofts and the foothill homes near Golden and Evergreen that own a grand usually own a gun safe or some other dead-weight object too, and those go on the same visit. A loaded safe near 700 pounds, sitting in a foothill study at the top of a steep driveway, calls for the same board, dolly, and headcount a grand would. We mark off the doorways and corners with tape, lock in a route, and send exactly the hands the weight warrants, no more.

Cherry Creek · Yelp
★★★★

“Booked them for a condo on the 14th floor in LoDo and they handled the freight elevator reservation and the dock window without me having to chase the building. Knocked off a star because the crew showed up about 40 minutes late, but they called ahead to warn me and still wrapped everything up well inside the flat quote. No surprise charges, which is rare.”

“Two-bed apartment near Wash Park, up a narrow stairwell, and these guys were quick about it. Friendly, careful with the doorframes, done before noon. Would use again.”

Service FAQ

Just uprights, or grands too?

Grands too. Spinets, consoles, uprights, baby grands, and the full concert size are all the specialty unit's work. A grand comes partly apart and travels on its long edge on a padded board, which is the one safe method.

Can you bring one down a loft stairwell or up a steep driveway?

Yes. Cramped LoDo stairwells and steep grades toward Golden are precisely why this needs a dedicated unit and proper gear. The boards and the technique keep the weight in check, and because we mark the route off with tape first, nothing catches us out midway.

Do gun safes and other dead-weight objects fall under this?

They do. A loaded safe is as risky as a grand, so it earns a matching board, dolly, and headcount. We run into them all the time in the lofts and foothill homes around here, often on the same visit as the instrument.

Will the move knock the tuning off?

Almost any move, even sliding it a few feet, can nudge a piano off pitch, and Denver's dry mile-high air adds to it. Nothing breaks in transit, but let it settle two or three weeks in the new room before booking a tuning.

Can you deliver a piano into a downtown tower?

Often, in the LoDo and RiNo buildings. We lock the freight cab and the dock window with management ahead, file any certificate of insurance the property wants, and plot the route from the curb through to the room.
